Position: Instructional Technology Librarian
State University of New York at Oswego, Oswego, New York



Compensation and benefits: Commensurate with rank and experience of Senior Assistant librarian.



Description:Penfield Library of the State University of New York at Oswego seeks an innovative librarian to fill an exciting new position of Instructional Technology Librarian.

Description of Responsibilities: As the Library works to more fully integrate a variety of functions central to the design of a "Learning Commons," this position offers a unique opportunity to promote academic success through the integration of information services, resources and technologies. Working closely with both public service and technology librarians and staff, the instructional technology librarian will provide leadership in the creation of new services and instructional venues, which will be designed to assist students with the use of technology for collaborative learning and the completion of their assignments. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position with faculty status at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian. The position reports to the Learning Commons Coordinator and works closely with the Library's Reference and Instruction work teams, as well as with Access Services staff.

Major roles will include assisting students with web design and the integration of multimedia into their presentations, helping to provide facilities that support group study and creative collaboration, training librarians and library staff to extend the technical assistance they now provide, and consulting with interested faculty regarding new teaching technologies. The position will include providing reference services, including some evening/weekend hours, working as subject liaison with selected disciplines, providing information literacy instruction for classes in liaison areas, academic experiences and interests in culturally diverse groups, and experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives.

Required Qualifications: MLS from an ALA-accredited institution; teaching background in both one-on-one and classroom settings; experience with online information resources; demonstrated experience with current multimedia production using Windows and Mac systems including skills utilizing/providing instruction in the use of several of the following: Office productivity software, digital audio and video production/editing products, streaming video, course management systems, graphics software, and web authoring tools; excellent communication skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students and faculty; experience working with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications: Second degree in instructional technology or related field; Administrative, supervisory or leadership experience.
