Position: SCIENCE AND OUTREACH LIBRARIAN
St. John Fisher College, Rochester, NY

Description: The Science and Outreach Librarian provides leadership in promoting library services as part of a team of librarians providing reference, instruction and liaison services to the campus community.

= Serves as primary liaison to graduate and undergraduate science programs.
= Coordinates outreach to students and faculty to promote the use of library resources.
= Serves on library and campus committees and task forces.
= Participates in professional development.
= 12 month, full-time position with some evening and weekend hours required.

Job Responsibilities: Reference, Instruction and Liaison Responsibilities:
= Teaches Information Literacy to students and faculty in liaison areas, learning communities and other programs as needed.
= Collaborates with faculty in liaison areas to work towards course-integrated information literacy.
= Serves as Library Liaison to undergraduate and graduate sciences and other departments as assigned.
= Participates in reference desk services to the Lavery community including evening and weekend rotations.
= Collaborates with faculty in liaison areas on collection development and participates in general library collection development.
= Serve on library, campus, and professional committees as appropriate.
= Outreach Librarian Provides leadership in the marketing and promotion of library services.
= Develops innovative outreach programs that enhance the use of library resources.

Education / Experience: Required: ALA accredited MLS, Science degree or experience

= Strong commitment to course integrated instruction and cooperative curriculum design.

= Familiarity with the information needs of the academic community.
= Reference and instruction experience.
= Supervision of other Employees: none
= Physical and Mental Demands: Prolonged sitting; some bending and stretching; normal standing and walking throughout the course of the day.
= Periods of extended computer usage.
= Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
= Ability to think clearly amid changing priorities and circumstances.
= Maintain professional attitude and demeanor in difficult situations.
= Ability to multitask in a very busy work environment.
= Exercise sound judgment.
= Maintain high level of confidentiality.

Work Environment:
= Equipment to be Used: Standard office and library software and hardware
= Work Hours: 12 month position with some evening/weekend hours required
