Web Developer, Syracuse University

Position: WEB DEVELOPER
Syracuse University
Center for Science & Technology

Compensation and benefits: Rate of Pay Commensurate with experience.

Description: Syracuse University is looking for a creative and team-oriented Web Developer for its Institutional Advancement Technical Systems & Services department.

= Reporting to the Web Specialist for Technical Systems & Services, the Web Developer will develop and maintain Syracuse University's Internet and intranet web sites and services and their systems infrastructure.

= Additional oversight includes developing and enhancing the University's web presence and related communications programs, implementing appropriate technological techniques.

Qualifications
= Bachelor's degree with college coursework in Web Programming; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
= Minimum of two years web related programming experience required.

Job Specific Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have the following technical skills:
= Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Flash for optimizing images and animations. Should be able to code by hand (no reliance WYSIWYG editors).
= Understanding of and proficiency in a CMS environment is required.
= Knowledge of CASCADE is helpful but not required
= He/she must be proficient using Mac or PC for web development.
= Candidates must have a demonstrable proficiency in XHTML, JavaScript, XML, PHP, CSS, and web/database interactivity (MySQL).
= Server administration knowledge a plus, but not required.
= In addition to web development experience, this person must possess effective oral and written communication skills, excellent listening skills, the ability to analyze business needs and create technical solutions for those needs.

Responsibilities:
= Oversee day-to-day maintenance and management of web content and systems infrastructure and assure stability, quality and integrity.
= Ensure a visually consistent site by adhering to relevant standards, guidelines, and policies and promoting uniform fonts, formatting, icons, images and layout techniques.
= Establish and maintain cross-platform and cross browser compatibility ensuring accessibility from a variety of environments and providing suitable access by individuals with disabilities.
