CLIC-on-Health Project Director

Position: CLIC-on-Health Project Director
Rochester Regional Library Council, Fairport, NY

Compensation and benefits: Salary: $26/hour; 17.5 hours per week; Temporary, grant-funded position

Description: The Rochester Regional Library Council is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual to head one of the leading consumer health information projects in New York State – CLIC-on-Health – Community and Library Information Collaboration on Health. CLIC-on-Health is an award winning project that provides a website linking consumers to trustworthy health information and to local health care agencies and a training program that trains librarians, health care workers, and targeted groups, such as seniors, in how to find and evaluate quality health care information.

The individual selected for this position will have an opportunity to lead this unique collaboration between medical, public, school, and academic librarians, and the agencies providing health care in the greater Rochester area.

This individual will also have the opportunity to expand the “CLIC-on-Health model” to other regions of New York in partnership with the NY3Rs Councils in the state.

The Rochester Regional Library Council is one of the premier NY3Rs Councils in the state, advancing libraries though collaboration among all types of libraries and with community agencies.

Employment Period:October 1, 2008 – June 30, 2009; Possibility of yearly extensions
Supervision: Reports directly to Executive Director

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT

Has overall responsibility for the organization, direction, implementation, outreach and evaluation of CLIC-on-Health, the RRLC-administered consumer health website and training Project and directs upstate New York Go Local Project. Works in collaboration with the CLIC-on-Health Steering Committee; statewide Go Local Committee and Project partners in the library and healthcare community.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop, coordinate and carry out all aspects of the RRLC consumer health project, CLIC-on-Health. Includes:

a. Organize and manage the day-to-day activities of CLIC-on-Health, including coordination of updates to agency listings on website;

b. Organize, lead, and report on meetings of the CLIC-on-Health Steering Committee;
c. Work with the website developer and the Steering Committee to continuously improve and enhance the website;
d. Coordinate and/or provide training on the CLIC-on-Health website;
e. Participate in a team that writes grants to secure funding for CLIC-on-Health and for projects related to its mission.

f. Develop and implement a communications plan for COH. Create appropriate materials that spotlight the features/content of CLIC-on-Health.

g. Insure that all grant-funded aspects of the Project are accomplished on schedule.
h. Prepare required reports and evaluate the project.

2. Coordinate activities and processes related to CLIC-on-Health, and upstate NY3Rs councils becoming a National Library of Medicine “Go Local” site.

a. Organize, lead, and report on meetings of the Upstate New York Go Local Steering Committee.
b. Work with the various subcommittees of the Upstate NY Go Local (UNYGoLocal) Steering Committee to ensure aspects of the project move forward.

c. Write grants as needed to secure funding for UNYGoLocal.

3. Seek out, develop and maintain contacts with Project partners in the library and healthcare community to increase the visibility of the Project, solicit their involvement at various levels in CLIC-on-Health, and enhance and expand the content and services of the Project. Represent COH at appropriate health fairs, meetings of health care agencies, and other venues where there is an opportunity to promote the benefits of COH. (20%)

4. Develop and implement a plan for sustainability of the Project. Investigate additional funding sources, which will include identifying, investigating, and implementing contact with potential donors and identifying, investigating and writing grant opportunities. (25%)

5. Perform other duties as required to carry out the mission of COH and RRLC.

REQUIREMENTS:
Significant project management experience. Excellent interpersonal and writing skills. Good understanding of technology.

STRONGLY PREFERRED:
Specific project management experience of 2 years or longer or significant administrative experience. Successful grant writing experience.

MLS from ALA-accredited library education program and 2 years of experience working in a library.
