Reference/Instruction Librarian

Position: Reference/Instruction Librarian
Warren Hunting Smith Library, Geneva, NY

Description: Reporting to the Director of the Library, and working in a team environment, the Reference/Instruction Librarian provides research and instruction services within the library; and works collaboratively with other academic support services staff across the campus to develop programs and initiatives for the college community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide basic and advanced library research instruction to students, faculty and using a full spectrum of resources; and create instructional and training materials in print, multimedia and interactive formats. Collaboratively develop programs to provide instruction in the use of resources and instructional technologies to students, faculty and staff. Full participation in reference services, including scheduled nights, weekends. Take an active, collaborative role in implementing new technology and resources in public services areas. Contribute to collection development by selecting materials in subject areas as assigned and by recommending purchases to further strengthen our collection, including electronic resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

M.L.S. from A.L.A. accredited library school, or equivalent. Pre-professional or professional experience preferred. Ability to deal effectively with students and faculty in an automated, small liberal arts college library.

OTHER INFORMATION:

This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible administrative position. Normal campus office hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year with a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours. Hours may vary for this position.
