Description: The Alfred C. O’Connell Library at Genesee Community College, Batavia, NY, seeks a creative, technologically savvy, service-oriented librarian to ensure that the library’s information technology supports its mission to cultivate learning and provide tools for discovery.
The Systems & Electronic Services Librarian is an integral member of the library service team. It is a full-time faculty position with a 200 day per year work schedule. Responsibilities include management of electronic resources, web site development, technical support and training. Manages integrated library system in collaboration with Library Management System Administrator. This is a leadership position in investigating and implementing new information technologies and services.
Master's Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA accredited program is required. Will consider candidates who will have obtained an ML/IS by August 31, 2008. Post-MLS experience in an academic library, experience with management of integrated library systems (Ex Libris Aleph preferred), electronic resources, web site design, and maintenance of computer hardware is preferred. Familiarity with remote patron authentication (proxy) and interlibrary loan software is desirable. Ideal candidates will possess a passion for teaching and learning, a sense of humor, a positive attitude and a willingness to embrace technology.
